Abstract
Purpose: Renal injury is developed in 10% in abdominal trauma patients and the most common injury in genitourinary systems. We evaluated cause, degrees, and treatment of renal injury in our institution for 10 years.

Materials and Methods: Between February 2000 and June 2010, 59 patients with renal injury were analyzed retrospectively.

Results: The causes of renal injury were 37 (62.7%) patients with traffic accidents, 7 (11.9%) patients with fall-down, 12 (20.3%) patients with traumas, 1 (1.7%) patient with stab wound, and 2 (3.4%) patients with unknown of causes. The degrees of renal injury were 11 (18.6%) patients with grade I, 10 (16.9%) patients with grade II, 20 (33.9%) patients with grade III, 10 (16.9%) patients with grade IV, and 8 (13.6%) patients with grade V. The treatments of renal injury were
conservative treatments in 46 (77.9%) patients, nephrectomy in 5 (8.5%) patients, renal artery embolization in 5 (8.5%) patients, and other treatments in 3 (5.1%) patients.

Conclusions: The causes of renal injury were mainly traffic accidents and trauma, and grade III injuries were most common. Conservative treatments were main treatments but renal artery embolizations were increasing.
